  • Catering Tenders

    Last week staff and children met with catering companies to help us decide who will be our lunch providers for September 2017. The children got to try lots of delicious foods and we even made healthy pizza and smoothies using the smoothie bike!

  • Poetry Competitions

    We held two Performance Poetry Competitions on Friday 17th March, all the children were amazing. They were confident and performed beautifully.

    Momina Malik Y1 won the overall shield for Y1, 2 & 3.

    Reha Kumar Y5 won the overall shield for Y4,5 & 6.

  • Year 3's visit the Rainbow Factory

    16th February 2017

    Year 3's went to visit the Rainbow Factory in Leeds this week, where they had an Alice in Wonderland themed day. 

    The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were a real credit to the school.

  • 100% Attendance Day

    16th February 2017

    As part of a reward for attendance, our KS2 pupils were invited to watch the Infuzion Dance crew as they performed for the children at school on Thursday 9th February.

    Infuzion Dance crew are made up of undergraduates from Bradford University, they danced their hearts out for the children with hip hop and street dances.

    The children were amazed and loved every minute of it.

  • Improved Attendance

    Malka Munir in Year 3 was awarded the Trophy for Most Improved Attendance out of the whole of Key Stage 2. Well done Malka. 

  • Children's Author Pete Murray Visit

    The school has been visited this week by Children's Author Pete Murray and his wife Kath.  He has once again charmed and captivated the children at Whetley Academy with his fascinating stories from his books.

  • Saturday School

    4th February 2017

    Saturday School for selected pupils in Years 2 & 6 is currently taking place in school between 9-11.30am every Saturday.

  • Snow and bad weather

    In the event of bad weather it is always the priority of the academy to remain open and as such the site team will work to ensure that the site is both accessible and safe.

    There are however rare instances where the academy might not be able to open as normal as a result of severe weather. In such instances any changes to the usual opening arrangements will be communicated by a text system to let parents know if the academy is closed due to bad weather.
